1. The Way House: Iasi, Romania
The Way House is located in Iasi Romania and borders a campus housing complex of 15,000 university students. God gave us The Way house as an outreach center and living accommodations for GCM staff serving in The Way student ministry, established by our first Mobile Impact Team during the 2005-2006 school year. Directors Bebe and Mirela Baciu, have established a solid core of student leaders from Eclesia church, and together they are working to instill a passion and desire among the Christian students to reach out and share their faith among the 100,000 university students living in Iasi. Bebe and Mirela and their team reach out into the dormitories each week with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Small group Bible Studies, a free dinner meal and outreach night are held each week at The Way House. Also, a sports ministry has been established as a way to reach out to students.
2. The River's Edge Community Church: Sierra Leone, West Africa
The River's Edge Community Church was started by God in the hearts of Michael and Georgianna Turray. Supported by a Mobile Impact Team, the church officially began in 2007 with the goal of sharing the absoloute truth of the Word of God in the village of Regent, Sierra Leone. The mission of the church, as stated in the church bulletin, reads: "In the late 19th and 20th centuries, foundational Christian doctrines disappeared from our pulpits. The Bible stopped being revered as the inerrant, infallible Word of God. Miracles were explained away, the virgin birth of Jesus denied. The substitutionary atonement for man’s sins was rejected and the physical bodily resurrection of Christ denied, and the literal future return of Jesus was scoffed at. Today, we face a similar challenge. People are Biblically illiterate, theologically impoverished, doctrinally confused, and spiritually starved. At River’s Edge Community Church, we place the knowledge of the Bible at center stage. We understand a person cannot apply what he does not know, a person cannot know what he has not taken the time to learn, and a person cannot learn unless the local church teaches the entirety of the Bible. This is the reason why we exist. To help you receive, retain, and apply the truth of God’s Word that has the ability to change your life, and help you through to spiritual maturity which is the goal that God has set for every believer. You are warmly welcome and please make our church your home."
3. International Student Ministry: Iasi, Romania
Dave and Erin, along with their children Zeke and Marit, officially moved to Iasi, Romania this past April. They said goodbye to their family and friends. Dave left his career as a biopharmaceutical engineer. Erin left her sister and her brand new baby. They have counted the cost as disciples of Christ. And have plunged deeply into the ministry. God has confirmed, in more ways than one, that He is the mastermind behind this unique calling. After just two weeks in Iasi, the Frerichs hosted their first Bible study with 3 Malaysians. The following week, the numbers more than doubled. Eight international students gathered in their small living room from all over the world--Malaysia, Madagascar, Congo, UK and Nigeria! This is truly a miracle! At the end of the night, one of the students said, "It is so good to just be in a home." This confirmed much of what they already knew--the students are lonely, they miss their families, and are comforted by being in a home and sharing a meal together. Another student said he called his mom to tell her he was going to his second family’s home for dinner on Friday. The Frerichs are praying that the light of Christ would continue to shine out of their home and that these students come to be intimate lovers of Christ.
